Mark Hjelmervik
Mark Hjelmervik: Associate Pastor of Worship & Community Groups
Mark grew up in a very musical family in the California foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s (San Andreas, CA). He received his Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA) and then taught high school choir and guitar classes back at his alma mater in San Andreas (Calaveras High School) for three years, while serving at his home church, San Andreas Community Covenant Church, as the worship leader and a youth and young adults ministry leader. After his time of serving in his hometown, he moved to Chicago to study at North Park Theological Seminary, where he received his Masters of Divinity in the spring of 2007. Mark has been serving as the associate pastor of worship and community groups at CCC since November of 2007.
Mark’s passion and experience in the realms of worship and community groups is extensive. He has both solo and team led worship in church, summer camp, small group, and special event settings. He is passionate about pursuing and teaching a life of worship that goes far beyond the realm of music and the framework of Sunday mornings. Mark has also served in various small groups settings for over the past ten years as a participant, leader, mentor, and coach. He is absolutely convinced that we are called to live a life both in relationship with God and with our neighbor.
Some of Mark's hobbies are hiking, racquetball, white water rafting, playing music, reading, and simply spending time with friends. He hopes to soon give a try at river kayaking, water skiing, and snow skiing. He absolutely feels blessed to be living in North Bend, surrounded by such gorgeous creation and wonderful new friends.
